Call for immediate campaign and election reform
More than impeachment of Bush and Cheney, campaign and election reform is of the utmost importance. First of all, millions and millions of dollars are spent on campaigns. This is not only insane, it is indecent. Second, the electoral/delegate system is unfair. Third, we can't trust that our votes are being counted accurately.
I propose a cap on the dollars that can be spent on campaigns, a one-day primary election, election by popular vote and a return to paper ballots with an extensive chain of security.
Candidates should receive equal air time. No one should be able to buy more than another candidate. All funds and funding sources must be accurately recorded and reported. Debates should be televised on channels that everyone has access to and aired on the internet with no editing. All candidates must be given equal time to answer every question with no interruption. Only when a candidate withdraws from the campaign should he/she be excluded from a debate.
A beginning and ending campaign time should be established with no campaigning allowed 3 days before the one-day nation-wide primary election nor on election day. Whoever receives the majority popular vote wins the election. No more of this bogus electoral/delegate system.
All districts across the US should have the same voting procedures, no more electronic or other faulty systems. Paper ballots with a tamper-proof chain of security must be put into place immediately and before the November election.

Folks on the Hill
'Folks on the Hill' is a BBC Northern Ireland production and mostly about the politics there, but there are a couple of digs at Bush, the last one being the funniest, in my opinion. Click here to view.
Our stalwart congress
I continue to be frustrated with the political situation: the Speaker of the House and the Senate Majority Leader continue to buckle under Bush. What's the good of having a democratic congress with no backbone? Except for a few members, we might as well have a congress full of Bush comrades.
Clinton dumps $5 million of 'her own money' into her campaign. Huckabee takes off for the Cayman Islands. Meanwhile the government provides a 30-day grace period for people who are facing foreclosure. Like 30 days is some fantastic assistance. Providing 30 days for an issue of this magnitude is like providing 6 hours between midnight and 6 am to get funds to cover an imminent bank overdraft.
Give me a break!
And now our Secretary of State is saying she never saw evidence that there were not weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Excuse me???? (See Congressperson Wexler's questioning of Condoleezza Rice on YouTube.)
I'll keep saying it, we need to take action. We need to let congress know we are sick of their pussy footing around. Keep tabs on their voting records. Tell them you'll find another candidate at re-election time. Write letters. Make phone calls. If there's a demonstration in your area demanding the end of the invasion of Iraq, go. Protest the war mongering by refusing to pay that percentage of your taxes. Write letters to the editor. DO SOMETHING!! We can't sit back and let our government get away with fiscal, diplomatic, and domestic irresponsibility. We need to make our government officials accountable and accountable NOW!!!

Telecoms get immunity
This website says it at least as well as I could say it, and it will save me time that is in short supply having returned back to university at the end of January.
Congress is a mess. They don't stand up to Bush, and they don't listen to the people who elected them. I think we need to impeach Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid for not having the backbone to stand up to President Bush and VP Cheney.
